With the ongoing Activision Blizzard acquisition, Microsoft has constantly reiterated its stance to bring more games to more people instead of taking them away.
Recently, this stance was questioned by many when the Redfall Creative Director revealed that a PS5 port was in development before the acquisition. Following this news, Microsoft approached Gamespot to clear the air.
A spokesperson stated that Microsoft had not removed any games from PlayStation.
The spokesperson reiterated that the company did not remove any Bethesda games from PlayStation and decided to honor existing exclusivity contracts with PlayStation.
This included games like Ghostwire Tokyo from Tango Gameworks and Deathloop from Arkane Studios, both of which were PlayStation 5 console exclusives for one year. The spokesperson also said:
“We have always said that future decisions on ZeniMax games for other consoles will be made on a case-by-case basis.”
Redfall releases for Xbox Series S|X and PC on May 2. The game will mark the first big Xbox exclusive release since the Bethesda merger in 2020, with Starfield following just a few months later in September.
