The official availability of AMD’s most cutting-edge gaming processors built on the Zen 4 architecture has been announced. Ryzen 9 7045HX is part of the AMD “Dragon Range” series with up to 16 cores based on Zen 4 and 32 threads.
AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX complete configuration comes with both CCDs having eight cores. That is twice as many cores as the previous generation based on Rembrandt silicon. For the most recent generation, AMD also increased maximum clock rates and TDP.
The Ryzen 9 7945HX can operate at 5.4 GHz with 55 watts. However, the TDP may be set to 75. The minimum configuration we can obtain from these laptops equips a GeForce RTX 4060 with 16 GB of DDR5 and a 1 TB NVMe SSD.
Four models will be available for purchase, with the Ryzen 9 7945HX standing out among them in terms of performance. AMD wanted to demonstrate its potential, so it compared it to an i9-13950HX and showcased up to 45% better performance.
Since AMD ensures that the AMD Ryzen 9 7945HX CPU is 10% faster on average than the Intel Core i9-13950HX, it marks a turning point in laptop gaming. In Rainbow Six Siege, the gap at max is less than -4% in favor of the blue team and +45% in favor of the red team—all of the course at 1080p with the high settings.
Among others, the ASUS Zephyrus Duo 16, Strix SCAR, and Strix G17 models have arrived, where their prices range, depending on the minimum and maximum equipment, between $1,799 and $5,145.
