Ubisoft is no stranger to blockbuster gaming releases. The company is home to massive franchises like Assasin’s Creed, Rainbow Six, and more. However, Ubisoft has struggled to find its footing in the last few years.

In June 2022, the company announced the cancellation of four future projects. This was alarming, but Ubisoft has shared even more bad news recently. The gaming giant has announced that three more unannounced projects have been canceled.

Skull and Bones

However, this is not the only piece of bad news. Ubisoft has also announced another delay for Skull and Bones. The game has already been delayed five times, painting a grim picture for Ubisoft’s multiplayer title.

The developer has not given an exact release date for Skull and Bones, but the upcoming beta phase will go on as planned. Ubisoft expects a more polished and balanced experience for the players after this delay, with a new release target for early 2023-2024.

Ubisoft also claims that recent releases have not done well. This, combined with the current economic conditions, has forced the gaming giant to make these difficult decisions.

Yves Guillemot, CEO of Ubisoft, has said,

“We were surprised by Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope underperformance in the final weeks of 2022 and early January. Just Dance 2023 underperformed as well.”

However, big franchises like Assassin’s Creed remain the developer’s biggest asset. The franchise has lasted over 15 years, surpassing 200 million sales worldwide. As such, the gaming giant will continue to use these brands for global growth and recognition.

Assassin’s Creed

Ubisoft might be struggling, but fans have much to look forward to from the French giant. Back in September, the developer announced its plans for the future of Assassin’s Creed. Five brand new Assassin’s Creed games were announced, including the 2023 title Assassin’s Creed Mirage and the much-requested game set in Japan.

The developer is also working on a Star Wars game and Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, which is said to be an AAAA game from Ubisoft.
